Fold, punch, unfold — where are the holes? Two mechanical rules answer it: the count doubles per fold, and each unfold mirrors the holes across its line. Count first and half the options disappear.
Holes double per fold: 1 punch through 1 fold → 2; through 2 folds → 4. Wrong-count options vanish immediately.
Last fold opens first. Mirror every existing hole across that fold line.
A hole 1 unit left of the line lands 1 unit right of it — same height, equal distance.
Paper folded in half (left over right), then punched near the top-right. Which unfolded sheet is correct?
Count first! One punch through one fold must give exactly 2 holes — options with 1 or 3 are gone before any position checking.
Fold line = mirror line! A vertical fold mirrors left↔right at the SAME height. Vertical drift means the option mirrored the wrong way.
Reverse! The LAST fold made is the FIRST to open. With multiple folds, order changes where holes multiply.

Open the folds in reverse order, and at each unfold mirror every hole across that fold line — equal distance, same height.
The count check — any option with the wrong number of holes is impossible, no position analysis needed.
